The Broyhill Family Foundation discourages unsolicited grant requests from organizations with which we do not already have a giving relationship.
Grants are awarded to 501(c)(3) public charities with a further designation of 509 (a)(1) or 509 (a)(2). Those organizations with a 509 (a)(3) designation need not apply. Grants are not awarded to individuals.
Grants are for charitable purposes and should benefit others beyond the recipient of the grant.
The grant must not be used for propaganda or to influence legislation.
The grant should be unrestrictive regarding race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin.
Broyhill Family Foundation’s grant cycle is January 1 to November 15. Requests after November 15 should be submitted in the next calendar year. Applications are not retained by the foundation and carried over to the next year.
Grant applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, the time frame for a response varies.
The foundation encourages one request per organization in a calendar year. Any grant in any year does not give preference to a grant from the same organization in the ensuing year.
All grant-related information should be kept confidential. Any press release or sharing of information should be approved by our Executive Director.
Provide a list of the organization’s board of directors.
Financial Reports for an organization requesting funds are required in compliance with Federal and North Carolina law regarding a formal audit report or a reviewed one. The appropriate financial statements should accompany the application. For organizations below a certain financial level, as determined by federal and state guidelines, an income/expense report and an operating budget will suffice.
Contact the foundation via mail or email. Submit the grant request via mail, email, or fax to the following contact:
